Online Therapy California

You can do therapy from home, between the other parts of your week.

I'm licensed to see clients anywhere in California. You need to be physically in California during sessions. Video therapy can happen in the place that helps you feel most able to be yourself.

What to expect

What a session actually looks like

You do not need to prepare a perfect update. We can start with whatever is present when you arrive.

  • We start with what is happening in your week, your mind, or your body.
  • We talk, reflect, and make room for patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
  • When useful, breath and grounding can be part of the work. Body-based tools do not need a therapy room.
  • My availability changes every week. Please use the booking system to view current openings.

SimplePractice

A video session, with a simple setup

The platform

Sessions run through SimplePractice's secure, HIPAA-compliant video system. I'll share what you need to join when we schedule. You do not need to set up anything complicated before we talk.

A device with a camera

A phone, tablet, or computer can work as long as you can see and hear each other.

A stable connection

Decent Wi-Fi or a reliable data connection gives us a better chance of staying connected.

A private place

A bedroom with the door shut, a dorm room, or a parked car can all be workable spaces.

Privacy and confidentiality

Privacy is part of the plan.

  • →Choose a space where you can speak freely and where other people are unlikely to overhear.
  • →At the beginning, we can talk about who is nearby and what would help you feel comfortable.
  • →I will explain confidentiality and its limits at the start, so you know what to expect from our work together.

Why online can fit this work

Less activation before you even begin.

For clients working with ADHD or anxiety, the lead-up to therapy can feel like one more thing to organize. Online sessions leave out the drive and waiting room, so showing up takes less effort.

  • →You do not have to add a drive or waiting room to an already heavy week.
  • →You can show up in sweatpants, without a performance of “fine.”
  • →You can keep the context of your real week close by.
  • →For many clients, lowering that activation cost makes showing up more possible.
  • →Breath and grounding tools translate well to video.
  • →We can notice your nervous system in the places where your life actually happens.

A question parents often ask

Will virtual therapy work for my teen?

It can, when privacy and the setup are handled together. A video session gives her a familiar place to begin, and we can take time to get used to the format and notice what helps her participate.

  • I ask that she has privacy for the session.
  • We talk about how to make that work at home, together.
  • A bedroom with the door shut, a quiet room, or another private place may work.

There is no need to pretend video is the same as sitting in the same room. We can be honest about what feels awkward, make adjustments, and build a session routine that fits her life.
